Q5. "I’m not a skilled worker but do run my own business in the UK and have funds available to invest in a Canadian business. Will I qualify?”

Answer: Canada encourages investors, entrepreneurs and self-employed people to migrate to Canada and set up a new business base. As a Self-Employed or Entrepreneur applicant you would be expected to have a solid business background and have created a well-researched business plan for the proposed Canadian commercial venture.

There is also a category for investors owning a certain level of net assets and investment funds - with various investment schemes being recognised by the Provincial Governments across Canada.

FAQ’s on Canadian immigration

Q1. “Why is completing an Appraisal necessary…why can't you just advise me over the phone?”

Answer: Canadian Immigration law is complex with many entry routes and options each with distinct regulations. Also entry criteria and points systems are frequently changing. It is frankly impractical to cover all the issues in a brief conversation…and we wouldn’t be giving you the best service in so doing.  Many different categories of visa and selection systems exist, and key facts that you may not even think to mention or consider irrelevant could significantly affect the success of your visa application. We need to obtain a full understanding of your unique personal circumstances to do justice to your case. Timing of your application is also important and our advice can make the difference and save you considerable time as well.

Once you have completed our Appraisal Assessment we then consider the options necessary to score those crucial extra points that will tip the balance in your favour! Often we’ll come up with a route you probably wouldn’t have considered yourself. By using this systematic and proven method of gathering information about your unique circumstances we can select the most appropriate route. We then act for you personally and present your case accurately and positively to Canadian Embassy officials. We often achieve success in many difficult cases where our competitors’ less thorough analysis indicates you’ll fail Canada’s entry criteria. For this reason we don’t feature a Relocation Calculator on our site as the mathematical results are often misleading.

Q2. "Is there any age limit for immigration to Canada?"

Answer: Although age can be a factor under some visa categories there are no maximum age limits set in Canada. On the other hand, there is no special class for retired applicants either.

Q3. “Who should apply in a family situation and what is the status of the spouse?”

Answer: The Principal Applicant should be the person who best meets the immigration criteria. If a Permanent Residence is granted the spouse will have exactly the same rights and obligations as the principal applicant.
